16/01/10 SOUTH AMERICAN TOUR ANNOUNCED/ANNANDALE TOUR LAUNCH
Watussi are set to play their first tour of South America in March this year. The band will be playing shows in Brazil, Peru and Colombia (at Bogota's famous "Festival Ibero Americano"), with shows in more cities and countries to be confirmed.
To launch the tour, the band will be playing Sydney's legendary Annandale Hotel on the 6th of March. Watussi's last Annandale gig sold out before doors opened, so get in quick!

3/12/09 NEW ALBUM/THE BAND RETURN FROM JAPAN
After returning successful from their second trip to Korea and Japan this year, the band have been in the studio recording their second studio album.
Producing, engineering and mixing the new record is New Yorker Joel Hamilton, whose credits include work with Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, The Black Keys, Marc Ribot and many more (check the full list at http://www.joelhamiltonrecording.com/).
Joel's latest project, Blak Roc, a collaboration of New York rock duo The Black Keys with hip hop luminaries Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon and Old Dirty Bastard amongst others, is currently the No. 1 Hip Hop album in the U.S. charts and No. 2 album in Australian iTunes charts. Currently in post-production, the album is scheduled to be released early next year with a launch and East Coast tour - stay tuned for dates!
14/12/09 GOOD VIBRATIONS FESTIVAL 2010
Watussi have just been added to the line up for the Sydney Good Vibrations Festival on Saturday the 13th of February and will be shaking the stage alongside heavyweight Busta Rhymes, as well as Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty By Nature and Art vs Science among others.
17/8/09 Watussi to support Colombian superstars Aterciopelados'/Returning to Korea and Japan
Watussi will go straight up the coast the day after to perform at the Bellingen Global Carnival and then fly out to Korea and Japan again for yet another Asian tour. The recent tour was a huge success and will be a great opportunity for the band to build on it's fanbase in both countries. Details on the GIGS page.
17/8/09 Watussi to support Colombian superstars Aterciopelados'/Returning to Korea and Japan
One of the most acclaimed Colombian indie rock bands of the last decade, 'Los Aterciopelados', will be touring Australia in October 2009 and Watussi will supporting them on their two Sydney gigs.
1/7/09 Tour Announcement - Japan August 09
Watussi returns to Japan this August to play the Asia Pacific Festival in Osaka on 2nd August. We are touring to celebrate the release of 'Tequila, Sangre y Fuego' through local label P-Vine Records.

Watussi's debut album 'Tequila, Sangre y Fuego' has been nominated for 'Best World Music Album' in the 2008 ARIA Awards. We are totally amazed and humbled by this honour and feel that such industry recognition is justification for the hours of tireless performing, touring and recording the band has been dedicated to. 26/08/08 Sydney Gig/Korea and Japan Tour News
Watussi are excited to announce a very special last Australian date before heading off to play festival, club and TV stages in Japan and Korea. Tour dates on myspace page.
On Saturday 13th September Watussi will headline two big shows at the Annandale; an afternoon show followed by an evening show, both with full support bills and special guests.
Two chances to see and hear why Watussi has rapidly become one of the most talked about live band experiences in Australia.
Doors open at 2pm and 8.30pm respectively. Tickets are currently on sale exclusively through the Annanadale Hotel's website, www.annandalehotel.com.
Prices are $20 plus b/f for the evening show, and $30 plus b/f for the arvo show, a which also includes a free South American BBQ, or asado, cooked by the Watussi guys themselves! South American salads, salsas and other vegetarian options will also be available.
07/03/08: WATUSSI - tequila sangre y fuego
Watussi (pronounced "WAH-too-SEE", Cuban slang for the 'most handsome man at the party') is a Sydney based 8 piece band playing Afro-Colombian Rock and Roots. Lead by Oscar Jimenez, a former punk rocker from Barranquilla on the Carribean coast of South America, he brings a huge amount of energy and charisma to every performance, making Watussi a must see for lovers of live music.
Their debut album "Tequila, Sangre y Fuego" was released late last year through Knowfoowl/Inertia with the first single "Echale Fuego" achieving national airplay on Triple J, ABC Radio National and community stations Australia wide. Watussi played WOMADelaide in March this year and is set to tour internationally in late 2008.
